Eva Longoria has moved her family out of the United States. The actress now splits her time between Mexico and Spain, as she revealed in a recent interview with Marie Claire.<\/p>\n
Longoria spent her entire adult life in the US but noticed changes that made her uncomfortable. She felt the country’s vibe was shifting even before the pandemic hit. COVID-19 then “pushed it over the edge” for her. The actress pointed to issues like homelessness and taxes as factors in her decision.<\/p>\n
The 2016 election had a big impact on Longoria’s outlook. She said:<\/p>\n
“I’ve never been depressed in my life.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The result made her question the effectiveness of voting and her belief that the “best person wins” in elections.<\/p>\n
Longoria expressed concern about the current political situation:<\/p>\n
“If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place. The shocking part is not that he won. It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The actress recognizes her privilege in being able to leave:<\/p>\n
“I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Longoria now lives between Mexico and Spain with her husband José Bastón and their 6-year-old son Santiago. Her work often takes her to Europe and South America, and she rarely visits Los Angeles these days.<\/p>\n
Despite her concerns about the US, Longoria remains positive about her personal future. As she approaches her 50th birthday, she said:<\/p>\n
“For me, age is just a number, but I’m excited.
