Nicole Kidman, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Elle Fanning are teaming up for a new Apple TV+ series. The show, called “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” will be an adaptation of Rufi Thorpe’s upcoming novel.
The series comes from A24 and will have eight episodes. David E. Kelley, known for his work on “Big Little Lies,” will write and executive produce. This marks Kelley’s fourth collaboration with Kidman and his first project with Pfeiffer, his wife, in over 30 years.
Elle Fanning will play the main character, Margo Millet. Margo’s a young woman who’s having a tough time. She gets pregnant after an affair with her English professor and ends up as an unemployed single mom in her early 20s. To make ends meet, she starts an OnlyFans account.
Pfeiffer will play Margo’s mom, a former Hooters waitress. Margo’s dad, an ex-pro wrestler, comes back into her life and teaches her some wrestling moves. Margo uses these in her OnlyFans work, which leads to unexpected success. It’s not clear yet what role Kidman will play in the story.
The book the series is based on won’t be out until June 2024, so production hasn’t started yet. Dakota Fanning will also be an executive producer on the project.
“As the child of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo Millet’s always known she’d have to make it on her own. Now an unemployed single mother in her early 20s, Margo is struggling to make ends meet, leading her to launch an OnlyFans account. When her father reenters her life, she starts incorporating his lessons from the pro wrestling world into her OnlyFans work, leading to unexpected success.”
The story looks at themes like struggling for financial independence, finding success in unexpected ways, and family relationships. It’s described as a “tender tale starring an endearing young heroine who’s struggling to wrest money and power from a world that has little interest in giving it to her.”
This new series follows Kidman’s recent success with Netflix’s “The Perfect Couple.” With such a star-studded cast and crew, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is shaping up to be an interesting addition to Apple TV+’s lineup.
