Celebrities react and honour Dabney Coleman’s death

Veteran actor Dabney Coleman passed away at the age of 92 in his Santa Monica home on Thursday. Known for his roles in “9 to 5,” “Tootsie,” and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” Coleman’s death marks the end of a significant era in Hollywood.

His daughter, Quincy Coleman, herself a singer, released a heartfelt statement following her father’s passing. She described him as a man who “crafted his time here on Earth with a curious mind, a generous heart, and a soul on fire with passion, desire and humor that tickled the funny bone of humanity.”

Tributes have poured in from various celebrities who worked with or were influenced by Coleman. Ben Stiller paid his respects via X (formerly Twitter), saying, “The great Dabney Coleman literally created, or defined, really – in a uniquely singular way — an archetype as a character actor. He was so good at what he did it’s hard to imagine movies and television of the last 40 years without him.”

James Woods, who co-starred with Coleman in “Recess: School’s Out,” shared his personal encounters on social media. Woods recalled frequent meetings at Dan Tana’s restaurant where Coleman was often seen enjoying his favorite steak. Woods expressed deep admiration for both the actor and the friend he had come to know over the years.

John Ales also shared memories of Coleman on social media, highlighting how Coleman brought likable villainy to life. Ales recounted personal moments shared with Coleman after losing his own father, noting how these interactions showcased Coleman’s complex yet sweet nature.
