In recent days in Los Angeles, actress Mandy Moore criticized a persistent paparazzo for following her relentlessly as she nears the birth of her third child. Moore, aged 40, voiced her distress over this intrusion especially at such a crucial life event. She shared on Instagram her frustration about being tracked during routine errands and emphasized her need for privacy.

Moore expressed displeasure with the invasive tactics used by some paparazzi who covertly followed her while ignoring traffic rules. “I’m literally about to give birth. Like any second, any day. And for the last few days there has been someone that has followed me or us in their car, everywhere,” she posted. She underscored how noticeable and bothersome the pursuit had become: “But also like, what I get annoyed by, is that they think I don’t see them.”

The actress also critiqued the necessity of paparazzi in modern times where celebrities can manage their own personal information through social media platforms. “It’s not a ‘woe is me’ thing, it’s just an annoying part of the job that, like, mostly does not exist for someone like me, and I – I just have a real distaste for it. And I see you sir. I see you. OK?” This statement marked an important stance against what she perceives as an outdated practice.

Moore, alongside husband Taylor Goldsmith, announced back in May 2023 their expectancy of a baby girl said to arrive “any second.” The couple already has two sons: August who is three years old and Oscar who is one year old.

Fellow celebrity Vanessa Hudgens has also echoed this sentiment recently after photographers captured photos of her leaving a hospital with her newborn on July 4th this year. Hudgens publicly expressed discontent saying, “We’re disappointed that our family’s privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media.”

In previous encounters during another pregnancy when her dog was battling cancer, Moore was fiercely protective over her personal life stating to one overly persistent photographer: “To the paparazzi dude who just tried to join me and my son on our walk for the second Sunday in a row you can kindly f–k off.”

Moore’s ongoing issues with the press highlight a broader discussion around celebrity privacy in age where public persona management is increasingly wielded by individuals themselves through direct communication platforms such as social media.
