Mia Farrow opened up about actors working with Woody Allen in a recent interview on CBS News Sunday Morning. The actress shared her thoughts while promoting her upcoming play “The Roommate.”
Farrow said she understands if actors choose to work with Allen, despite past allegations against him. She explained:
“I completely understand if an actor decides to work with him. I’m not one who’d say, ‘Oh, they shouldn’t.'”
This stance comes from Farrow’s ability to separate her experience as an actor from her personal trials. The actress and Allen collaborated on 13 films before their relationship ended amidst serious allegations in 1992.
Farrow and her adopted daughter Dylan accused Allen of molesting Dylan when she was 7 years old. Allen denied these charges. The allegations and subsequent custody battle were chronicled in the 2021 docuseries “Allen v. Farrow,” which presented the mother and daughter’s perspective.
Other actors have different views on working with Allen. Drew Barrymore, who starred in Allen’s 1996 film “Everyone Says I Love You,” now regrets that decision. At the time, working with Allen was seen as a career boost.
On the other hand, Bill Maher recently defended Allen, saying, “I don’t think he committed that crime.” Maher criticized those who regret working with Allen, calling them “a bunch of pussies” during a discussion about separating art from the artist regarding Allen’s 2023 film “Coup de Chance.”
During the interview, Farrow also reflected on her brief marriage to Frank Sinatra. She was 21 when they married, and the union lasted only two years, ending in 1968. Farrow described Sinatra fondly:
“Like Patti [LuPone], he was Sicilian, but unlike Patti he had a temper but the essential person was so compassionate and shy and readily available more than anyone I’ve ever known.”
She added that their relationship evolved into a friendship that lasted until Sinatra’s death.
Farrow’s upcoming play, “The Roommate,” co-starring Patti LuPone, will premiere on September 12. The CBS News Sunday Morning interview featured both actresses discussing their careers and personal lives.
