Olivia Munn and John Mulaney welcomed their second child

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney welcomed their second child, a daughter named Méi June Mulaney, on September 14, 2024. The couple announced the news on social media this Sunday.

Munn shared her joy about the new addition to their family. She wrote, “Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true. I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded.”

The couple chose to use a surrogate after Munn had a hysterectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Munn, 44, called their surrogate a “real-life angel” and expressed deep appreciation for her.

“When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel,” Munn said.

Mulaney added his own humorous touch to the announcement, saying, “We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much.”

The name Méi, pronounced “may,” means plum in Chinese. The baby girl was born in the Chinese zodiac’s year of the dragon.

Munn’s journey to this moment has been challenging. On March 13, doctors diagnosed her with Luminal B cancer, an aggressive type found in both breasts. She faced this diagnosis despite a normal mammogram the same winter and no family history of breast cancer.

Munn underwent aggressive treatment, including a hysterectomy and egg freezing. She and Mulaney discussed growing their family during this time.

“John and I talked about it a lot, and we don’t feel like we’re done growing our family, but [we] didn’t know if I would have to do chemotherapy or radiation,” Munn explained.

The couple, who got married on Fourth of July weekend, also have a son, Malcolm, born in November 2021.

Mulaney confirmed their marriage last month on Late Night with Seth Meyers, adding another joyful chapter to their story.
