The 35-year-old pop star received her seventh Album of the Year nomination for “The Tortured Poets Department” on Friday, November 8. This achievement makes her the first woman to reach this milestone in the Grammy Awards’ top category.
Swift’s latest nomination marks her fourth consecutive year in the Album of the Year race. She’s already won the award four times, for “Fearless,” “1989,” “Folklore,” and most recently “Midnights” in February 2024. Her total Grammy nominations now stand at an impressive 58, with 14 wins so far.
For the 2025 Grammy Awards, Swift snagged six nominations in total. Besides Album of the Year, she’s up for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Music Video, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Fortnight.” She also received a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “us” with Gracie Abrams.
Swift’s competition in the Album of the Year category includes a diverse group of artists. André 3000’s “New Blue Sun,” Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet,” Charli XCX’s “Brat,” Jacob Collier’s “Djesse Vol. 4,” Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” and Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” are all vying for the top honor.
Interestingly, Swift announced “The Tortured Poets Department” during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album at the previous Grammy ceremony in February 2024. She surprised fans by revealing the secret project she had been working on for two years.
Other artists with multiple nominations this year include Beyoncé, who leads with 11 nods, further cementing her status as the most nominated artist in Grammy history. Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Sabrina Carpenter each received seven nominations.
The 2025 Grammy Awards are shaping up to be an exciting event, with Swift’s historic nomination adding an extra layer of anticipation to the music industry’s biggest night.
